| A brief report
on the Seminar held for civil service probationers in Nagaland
Kohima: The H.I. Leadership Enhancement Seminar
held from 5-10 June 2006 at the Administrative Training Institute
(ATI) of the Govt. of Nagalnd for the Nagaland Civil Service
probationers in the rank of Extra-Assistant Commissioners
was a significant event in the history of H.I. in India. The
ATI of the Govt. of Nagaland with the assistance of the Haggai
Institute Alumni Association, Nagaland organized the
seminar with an objective to help the participants to live
a transformed life. At the end of the seminar the Director
of ATI commented that although the seminar was an unconventional
inclusion in the administrative training, yet it was very
much essential to mould the lives of the probationers for
transformation in the profession and thoughts. The Addl. Director
reiterated the necessity of making this seminar a regular
feature of the Institute in the future.

The Seminar was coordinated by alumna Menuo Keditsu and
subjects like Missions, Leadership, Integrity, Stewardship,
Communication and Goal-setting & Planning were taught
by faculty Sundar Singh Sangma, Amzad DeCruz, Dr. Sedevi Angami,
Tali Longkumer, Alongla Aier and Viu Meru.
All the 11 participants’ responses were very positive
and encouraging. Some of the outstanding comments made by
them are reproduced below:
- “Now we have realized that we can and should practice
biblical values in the governance need to approach our work
with an attitude of hard work with sincerity and honesty."
- Vekhoyi Chakesang
- "It provided me with new tools and ideas to live
a more purposeful Christian life." - C.Khanyang
Imlong
- "It clarified my understanding of spiritual life
and reminded me again of how much I need God in whatever
I do. Every officer and Government servant should attend
H.I. seminar."- Japheth Woch
The seminar is nothing less than raising the Daniels, Josephs
and Esthers of our time. Efficient governance and administration
comes from first-rate understanding of the values that is
deeply rooted in the Word of God and that is what is required
most in today’s situation. The seminar is definitely
going to help the emerging administrators to be powerful witness
for Christ in their workplace.
