Highlights: H.I. INDIA AGM 2005
By HI India

At the H.I. India Executive Committee meeting held in Hyderabad in December 2004, the goal of the special AGM-2005 was spelt out: “To build a strong and empowered AGM that would take ‘ownership’ issues far more seriously”. The goal was substantially met on the 13th and 14th of May 2005 AGM. Presentations were kept to a minimum and plenty of opportunity was given for debate and consensus formation. The AGM members returned very satisfied with the way the meeting was conducted.

The highlights of the AGM 2005 were as follows:

  1. Greater involvement and therefore commitment of the AGM in decisions pertaining to strategy, operations and budget
  2. Clear focus on transforming Leaders at the top, in line with the H.I. ethos and therefore strategic focus on the cities which are the centers of influence and the “marketplace”. This was also the Apostle Paul’s methodology. After 17 years of ministry in India, over 40% of India’s top 35 cities ( pop > 1 million) do not have a significant HI presence.
  3. Focus on National Seminars, SLS, SLS-D and State Level Seminars as opposed to weekend seminars.
  4. Appointment of Mr. Ravi Raiborde as the Regional Director (RD)- West with HQ at Nashik. He is an International alumnus and ex income tax official.
  5. Proposed new Region called Central India comprising MP, Chattishgarh, and Rajasthan etc.
  6. A new paid position of Area Manager(s) to work under the leadership of the RD for important states / cities.
  7. AGM to assist National Office in reactivating inactive Alumni Associations.
  8. AGM to assist National Office to build up a pool of 1000 probable participants for National-level seminars.
  9. AGM to assist in activating returning International participants and involving them in the National ministry
  10. Release of the H.I. Faculty Manual and inauguration of the new H.I. India website
  11. Being election year, election was conducted to elect new members into the EC. Before that a resolution was passed in the AGM to increase the EC strength from 7 to 9 elected members, since the strength of the AGM had gone up and ministry was growing. Six new members were elected. Among the newly elected were: Peter Bazeley, R. Rajkumar, Tom Oommen, Joshua Kandula, Mithra Satuluri and Valentine Davidar. Mr. Peter Bazeley was elected as President and Mr. J T A Singh as Treasurer. An extraordinary meeting of the EC is to be held in Hyderabad on September 20th.
  12. An expenditure budget of Rs 60 Lakhs for the year 2005-2006 was debated and passed.
  13. Even though there was no all India Alumni meeting, pledges worth Rs 25 lakhs were raised.
  14. Seminar Goals for 2005-2006 is 185 which includes 8 NS, 14 SLS, 3 SLSD, 21 SS and 139 LS.
  15. Ms. Maimunah and Bro Benny Siswanto, representing the leadership of the H.I. ministry in Indonesia were sufficiently challenged about building the ministry in their country.
